CYPRUS: London, 16 – Turkey and Great Britain have asked the United States to vote against including the Cyprus issue on the agenda for the UN General Assembly, which has been requested by Greece. LIBERALS AND COMMUNIST PARTY: Regarding a campaign that has begun for the legalization of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), political circles in the Liberal Party emphasize that in supporting this idea, they hope that restoring the party’s legality will put a stop to its illegal activities. But this is naive in the extreme, as the KKE has been legal in the past and if it becomes so again, it will not be satisfied with purely legal activities. EKALI RENTS: (Commentary in Kathimerini): One wonders at the fact that the authors of the plan to introduce rent scales have included Ekali within the boundaries of the capital. Ekali is not a settled suburb – with a shopping center, school, bakery, pharmacy – such as those of Kifissia, Maroussi and Halandri. It is a resort which becomes abandoned in winter, as it is impossible for anyone who works in Athens to live there. It is not a legal settlement. We suppose that it was included by mistake, there is no doubt that it should not be included with regard to rent obligations.
