LIN YUTANG IN ATHENS: Among the latest arrivals we note the well-known writer Mr Lin Yutang. Mr Lin Yutang was born in Chang-Chow, of Fukien province (China), in 1895. After his studies at home and abroad, he became professor of English at the University of Peking. Since 1927, he has been a member of the editorial committee of the weekly magazine China Critic, and since 1936, in the monthly magazine Tien Hsian. He has written various books, including «Letters of a Chinese Amazon» (1927), […] «My Country and My People» (1935), […] «The Importance of Living» (1937), «The Wisdom of Confucius» (1938), […] «Chinatown Family» (1948), «Wisdom of Lao-Tse» (1948), «On the Wisdom of America» (1950), as well as many others in Chinese. He is also the inventor of a typewriter with all the Chinese ideograms. BRUNO LAVAGNINI: The Italian Institute of Athens has published a 162-page volume, under the title «Trittico Neogreco,» containing poems by Porfyras, Cafavy and Sikelianos, translated by Mr Bruno Lavagnini and an introduction of same on the work of the three poets.
