WAR ON ICARIA: Following a decision by the deputy interior minister, the reward for the arrest or killing of proscribed bandits Constantinos Lytsa, of Amaroussion; Dimitris Bafas, of Ioannina; Vassilis Frouxe, of Volos; Ioannis Tsermega; Stefanos Papageorgakis; Philippos Mavrakis and Antonis Kalaboyias, of Icaria, has been increased to 30,000 drachmas, with 20,000 drachmas being offered for information on the whereabouts of any one of them. The abovementioned communist bandits have been operating on Icaria since the end of the bandit war [the civil war], aided and abetted by fellow travelers among the islanders. At intervals, they go round the countryside to boost the morale of communists and to organize communist groups. WILD ANEMONES: This year as well, Perigitiki Leschi will hold the anemone celebration on February 21 in the luxurious environs of the Averoff Restaurant. During the gathering, a prize will be awarded for the best bouquet of wild anemones, as well as prizes for the best wreaths on the heads of the ladies present, who will then take part in «the dance of anemones.» ALMOND BLOSSOM: This year’s almond blossom dance will be held at the Hotel Grande Bretagne on February 19.
