GAETANO DI MARTINO AND GREECE: Rome, 12 (From our correspondent K.G. Zafeiropoulos) – Italy’s foreign minister, Gaetano di Martino, this afternoon received a group of Greek journalists touring Italy. (…) To a question regarding the two countries’ current friendly relations, he replied: «Friendly relations between the two countries are within the framework of the Atlantic alliance. Our Mediterranean character is an additional factor in our convergence of interests. In the economic sector also, the regeneration of productive activity that has been proceeding at an expanding rate in your country since the difficult years of 1949-1950 allows for a more optimistic view of progress in bilateral transactions. The friendship between the Greek and the Italian peoples is the result of a long and deep tradition in the spirit of peace that benefits us all.» BAKERY WORKERS’ STRIKE: Athens and Piraeus bakery workers went on an open-ended strike last night, demanding pay rises and a reduction in the amount of flour each worker is required to process.
