TSATSOS AND KARAOLIS: The minister to the prime minister, Mr Constantine Tsatsos, asked by foreign correspondents in Athens about the possible consequences if the Cypriot patriot Michail Karaolis was executed by the British colonial authorities, made the following statement: «I address myself to the freedom-loving British people to emphasize that if the Cypriot patriot Michail Karaolis is executed, it will have a very unpleasant effect on the feelings of the Greek people, who are most concerned, and on the relations between Greece and Great Britain. Thanks to the solidarity and strength of the free world, we would like to believe that a cooler appraisal will prevail in all thoughts and decisions.» UPHEAVAL IN CYPRUS: Nicosia, 23 – Three British soldiers were injured today west of Paphos when the car they were driving hit a land mine. On Saturday night, patriots attacked a supply convoy in the mountains of southwest Cyprus, tossing hand grenades at the vehicles. Three of the British soldiers who returned fire were injured. One of those soldiers later died.
