OLYMPIC AIRWAYS: 11 – Minister of Public Works and Transport Georgios I. Rallis yesterday released the full text of a contract granting operating rights for Greek air transport to Mr Aristotle Onassis. The contract states in principle that the grant is of a 20-year duration and provides for the exclusive operating rights to all Greek-flagged air carriers, both at home and abroad. EXECUTIONS BY EOKA: Nicosia, 11 – The National Cypriot Struggle Organization (EOKA) is cleansing Cyprus of traitors. In the village of Deftera, near Nicosia, unidentified persons shot and killed a Greek-Cypriot cafe owner and seriously injured another person… GREECE AND THE SUEZ CRISIS: The Greek government has refused an invitation from Britain, the USA and France to participate in a conference of 24 countries in London next Thursday (August 16). Greece’s decision has been described by semiofficial sources here as «unexpected»… although, according to sources in Washington, the US State Department expected this reaction because of Britain’s intransigence regarding the Cyprus issue.
