GEORGIOS PAPANDREOU: The leader of the Liberals, Mr Georgios Papandreou, referring yesterday to vandalism by Turks in Nicosia, made the following statements: «Following the latest vandalism by Turks, with the complicity of the British tyrants against the Greeks of Cyprus, there is only one solution if peace is to be preserved – that a United Nations mission should be sent to the island and a UN-monitored referendum be held on self-determination, which is the only way to finally end the directed anarchy. The (Karamanlis) government should do everything in its power to bring this about.» PRESSURE ON GREECE: New York, 23 (From our correspondent) – As the day approaches when Greece’s demarche on the Cyprus issue is to be discussed at the UN, the Greek delegation continues to made contacts despite pressure and confusion being created by the British propaganda machine. Pressure to postpone the debate mounted yesterday and today by those citing the general interest… The Greek delegation naturally has been trying to counter these moves, according to Foreign Minister Evangelos Averof.
