SOVIET CONDITIONS: A report from Kathimerini’s New York correspondent that the representatives of the Soviet Union and its satellite states have set conditions for their support for Greece’s demarche on the Cyprus issue has caused astonishment in political and diplomatic circles. According to the report, confirmed by a reliable source, pressure has indeed been exerted on the Greek delegates… According to the same sources, the Greek government is not willing to give in to any blackmail from whatever source, East or West. It categorically refuses to change its foreign policy, particularly on such fundamental principles, in exchange for a few votes. That is not only because it is doubtful whether these votes are capable of swinging the result in its favor, but even if that were the case, the Greek government is not willing to change the foreign policy that determines the future and the destiny of the whole nation. ANNA MARIA CAGLIO: Rome, 30 – Advertisements have appeared all over Rome for a film starring Anna Maria Caglio, former girlfriend of Marchese Ugo Montagna and the main witness in the Montesi trial. The film is titled «The Girl in the Via Veneto.»
