MALAPARTE IN CHINA: (From «An Athenian’s Notes»): «Either because of my particularly fondness for China and the Chinese, their mentality and customs, or because of my particular respect for their medicine, I must admit I was taken aback by the news that two famous Italian doctors had left for China to treat the writer Curzio Malaparte who has taken sick there. (Malaparte recently passed through Greece on his way to the Far East.) I must admit that the news that the Chinese ambassador in Rome had suddenly called doctors from Peking would seem only natural. That is, I have the impression that the medicine of the Chinese is much more natural than ours, and includes our medical knowledge, while our medicine is ignorant of theirs, which is wise and effective. The Chinese ancient medical texts date back to the 28th century BC.» ELECTRIC RAILWAY: Within the first 10 days of March the residents of Neo Iraklion will be served by the electric rail line. Rails have also been laid between Neo Iraklion and Amaroussion, and within the month of April, the service will be extended to Kifissia.
