Life and politics as ongoing struggle
Easter, the most glorious feast of Orthodoxy, leads Greeks to the mystery and consolation of the Resurrection. It leads them to nature and joy, while also allowing them to see their lives in a different light, not just as a miracle but as an ongoing struggle. This important message must, first of all, reach the ears of government officials and the political elite at large – particularly in the wake of the recent allegations of scandals that have cast a dark shadow over Greece’s political life. The battle for progress and national growth, the battle for social prosperity continues. But the demands are now even stronger. This is why we need leaders: to take responsibility, to take the requisite measures, to set an example for the rest of society. Our politicians cannot afford to diverge from the path of ongoing struggle. They should not forget this.
