Masked intentions

Athens has turned into a battlefield for the hordes of self-styled anarchists that go on the rampage through the streets of the capital. The hangout of the anarchists, their tactics and weapons have been known to the authorities for a long time. No one can pretend to be taken by surprise, as the assailants always strike the same targets. It’s hard to believe that the police are incapable of collecting information on the anarchists and protecting public property. It’s hard to believe that the police are incapable of arresting a single one of the assailants operating in central Athens in full daylight. If Public Order Minister Vyron Polydoras really expects people to believe that, then he, as well as the police chief, should step down. And let this not be interpreted as a call for any violent clampdown. And because none of this sounds plausible, one is led to assume that the masked youths are acting in strange collusion with the police. It’s impossible to explain what’s happening otherwise.
