ILIAS TSIRIMOKOS: The foundation meeting of the parliamentary deputies belonging to the Democratic Union party was held yesterday afternoon. Twelve deputies took part, all of whom had all been elected as independents affiliated with the United Democratic Left (EDA). They signed a statement that is to be submitted to the parliamentary speaker next Monday once several more names have been added during a meeting scheduled for next Sunday. Ilias Tsirimokos was elected chairman of the Democratic Union group. CALIFORNIUM: Geneva, 5 – There was great interest today in an announcement that American scientists had succeeded in acquiring a quantity – large enough to be weighed – of the new rare, metallic chemical element, californium, with the atomic number 97 (Ed. note: now 98). GREECE-CZECHOSLOVAKIA: Thessaloniki, 5 – The director of the Czechoslovakian stand at the Thessaloniki International Fair said that bilateral trade with Greece had increased by 150 percent over the past two years.
