EDA: The leader of the United Democratic Left (EDA) Ioannis Passalidis said that his party had never suggested rejecting the West and was in favor of friendship with all nations as well as assuring that he did not want to change the social system. Greece is not at risk of being trapped behind the Iron Curtain, he said. «If you really want the country to get ahead, then you should grant an amnesty,» he told the government in a parliamentary debate. Interior Minister Dimitris Makris said the state would not lift the most fundamental security measures, as that would be stupid.
