FIRST SOCCER POOL: Over 200,000 soccer fans and others are eagerly awaiting the results of today’s matches that have been included on the list of the first soccer betting pools (Pro-Po). The introduction of this system in Greece has created massive interest among soccer fans, who believe it will put an end to the financial difficulties faced by Greek sporting clubs and will also increase the number of soccer fans in Greece. Equipment imported from Italy is to be used and the results of 12 matches will be recorded by about 8 p.m. today. Due to the staff’s inexperience, however, it is not known how long the next procedure will take, but it should be completed at least by tomorrow morning. All games are to begin at precisely 3.30 p.m. Many Pro-Po agencies, presently housed mostly in cafes and bars, will be at the ready to announce the winners. The winning combinations will also be announced in the press. DROUGHT: The continuing lack of rain has caused the beginnings of a drought across the country and has affected cultivated fields in Attica, doubling the price of vegetables. On the Mesogeia plain, many wells have dried up.
