Restoring order on city streets

Back when the socialist PASOK party was in opposition up until early October, it refused to give its support to the then government of conservative New Democracy in its efforts to impose some order and tackle the chaos being created by small groups of protesters who brought the center of Athens to a standstill whenever they felt like it. Today, with PASOK now in power, we see the same phenomenon being repeated, making life extremely difficult for the residents of the city who want to go about their daily business and all those who depend on a certain degree of normality for their livelihood. It goes without saying that an end must be put to this state of affairs, in which each group of protesters, no matter how small, is allowed to bring traffic to a total standstill and create huge mobility problems for the majority. So, perhaps the Socialists, who may now have realized how ludicrous their stance was when they were in opposition, will take the initiative and deal with this issue.
