Loose lips hurting the country

It seems that more and more officials within the Socialist government appear to have suicidal tendencies. At a time when the country finds itself at such a critical juncture, a number of Prime Minister George Papandreou’s cadres are not hesitating to voice their own opinions in contentious and controversial statements on issues such as the restructuring of Greece’s yawning debt or the possible renegotiation of the memorandum signed with the International Monetary Fund and the European Union. These PASOK officials seem oblivious to the lasting damage they may be causing to the nation. One would expect that the prime minister would at least try to gag these tactless mouthy officials. His failure to do so is giving the poor impression that he cannot control his own party members and government. At a time when the country is teetering on the brink of catastrophe, it is sad and alarming to see that a considerable number of government officials cannot live up to the demands of their office.
