ACS announces four scholarships for basketball players

The American Community Schools (ACS) of Athens has announced its athletic scholarships for basketball players for the 2012-13 academic year, which are aimed at new ACS entrants at the 10th-grade level and cover a maximum of three years of tuition at the school.

The Hasib Sabbagh and Diana Tamari Sabbagh athletic scholarships will be awarded to two boys and two girls, and the deadline application is May 31.

The applications will be assessed on the following criteria: high academic performance in the last two years; basketball skills and sportsmanship (coach recommendations required, if a member of a team); English-language skills, which will be determined at a placement test session after applying; positive personality and character; willingness to participate in school team training sessions and games during the basketball season; and proven need of financial assistance (as indicated by the tax authorities and the E9 form).

Personal interviews and tryouts will take place after receipt of the application form (which can be found at www.acs.gr). The application should include two letters of recommendation and an introductory letter from the student stating the reasons why he/she should be considered a scholarship candidate.
