Olympiakos woos Samaras and Tzavellas

Super League leader Olympiakos has reportedly knocked on the doors of Giorgos Samaras, striker for Celtic and Greece, and Eintracht Frankfurt fullback Giorgos Tzavellas for the next soccer season.

The Reds may have stopped searching for any further additions to their roster this winter following the acquisition of defender Yiannis Maniatis and striker Rafik Djebbour, and after opening a seven-point gap at the top of the soccer table, but are now looking at ways to strengthen their squad for next year.

The prospect of returning to the Champions League is appealing for the Piraeus club, which has made it clear that it would like more Greeks on its roster than it currently has. For this reason it has approached Samaras, who was the hero of the latest Old Firm derby in Glasgow, scoring both Celtic goals against Rangers this month.

Samaras?s contract with the Bhoys ends this summer and the Greece forward is reportedly giving the Olympiakos offer serious consideration as a career move. His acceptance would result in his debut playing for a Greek club.

The 26-year-old reportedly said that if he does not receive an acceptable offer from England or Spain by the end of February, he is likely to enter talks with Olympiakos regarding the possibility of donning the red-and-white shirt this summer.

The same reports suggest that the Reds have approached Greece left-back Tzavellas, who made his name at Panionios and has become a regular at Eintracht.
