Castillo back in Greece on loan to Aris

On January 19 Aris announced the return of former Mexico international Nery Castillo to Greek soccer, as the Thessaloniki club has secured his services for six months on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Ukrainian team has loaned out Castillo to various sides in the past, such as Manchester City, Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and the Chicago Fire after the unsettled player was acquired for some 20 million euros from Olympiakos in 2007.

?I am coming to Aris, a big club, with the intention of playing good soccer. For me this constitutes a door opening that gives me the chance to return to Greece and show what I can achieve,? Castillo said in a statement to Aris?s official website.

?I will give it my all for Aris to achieve its targets in Greece and Europe,? he added.

Aris, which was left without a manager on January 18 following Hector Raul Cuper?s resignation, will face Castillo?s former club Manchester City in the Europa League next month.

Late on January 18, Aris?s crosstown rival Iraklis confirmed the return of another foreign player to Greece. Joel Epalle came back to Iraklis after three years, stating that a dream of his has come true now.

?I feel like an Iraklis fan. I want to reach my top form and make everyone here happy,? said the former Cameroon international.
