Disappointing finish for Aris in Eurocup

Aris managed to lose at home on March 1 to an already eliminated Le Mans, leaving Greece without a team in the quarterfinals of the Eurocup.

Aris needed a victory over the French and for Goettingen to beat Budivelnik, but neither of the two halves of the equation materialized in the end.

Le Mans won 78-73 at Alexandrio in Thessaloniki, led by Benjamin Dewar who scored 25 points against a disappointing Aris.

The Greeks had Bobby Brown score 22 points and Christos Tapoutos add 17, but the rest of the team appeared unable to rise to the occasion, condemning Aris to one of their worst seasons in Europe in recent years, with just two wins in six games in this second group stage, where they finished last in the their pool.

Greece’s other representative, Panellinios registered its first win in the second group stage of the competition in its very last game, defeating visiting Alba Berlin 86-73 at Lamia.

Thanks to this win, Panellinios overtook Alba in the final standings to end up third in its pool.
