PAOK edges closer to snatching third spot

Olympiakos and Panathinaikos returned to domestic basketball action with victories on April 3, while PAOK took a clear advantage in its effort to finish third.

Olympiakos recovered from its Euroleague Final Four elimination with a 93-63 home win over Kolossos Rhodes, while Panathinaikos remained one point behind a table-topping Olympiakos with a 75-61 victory at Panionios.

The Greens? victory came just three days after their glorious triumph over European champion Barcelona in the Euroleague playoffs with a 78-67 score that takes them to the Final Four in May.

PAOK defeated visiting Ilisiakos 66-52 to go two points clear of Maroussi, as the northern Athens side lost 82-71 to Aris at home. The result brought Aris level on points with Maroussi, three rounds of games before the conclusion of the regular season.

The prospect of a possible PAOK vs Aris battle in the playoffs for Greece?s third ticket to next year?s Euroleague is mouthwatering indeed.

Iraklis has been all but relegated after going down 81-74 at AEK, with the Athens team moving out of the relegation zone that now includes Ilisiakos.

Ikaros Kallitheas and Panellinios confirmed they will stay up after their victories at home. On April 2 Ikaros defeated Kavala 75-67 and Panellinios saw off Peristeri 75-65 the following day at Lamia.
