Olympiakos takes bronze in women’s Champions Cup

Olympiakos finished third in the women?s Champions Cup Final Four in Sabadell, Spain, after losing in the semifinal on April 22 and winning the bronze medal match the following day.

In their second Final Four in as many years, the Reds lost to Italy?s Orizzonte Catania 14-13 in overtime on Friday in a very tight game that could have gone either way.

Olympiakos had complaints about the referee decisions though. «We felt that all the girls’ efforts this year went to waste. It has made us all angry. It’s like we got robbed,» said coach Haris Pavlidis.

Then on Saturday Olympiakos earned itself the third place by rather comfortably defeating Russia?s Kinef Kirishi 14-12.

Olympiakos finished fourth last season, while Vouliagmeni raised the trophy.
