AEK claims first handball title
AEK won the men?s handball championship on May 7 by beating PAOK 23-22 away for its first title ever.
The Yellows had to beat PAOK in Thessaloniki to claim the title and snatched the victory right at the end of the match through a Christoforos Bakaoukas goal, although PAOK had been leading with a 22-20 score.
Bakaoukas was also his team?s top scorer with eight goals on the day, the last of which gave AEK the victory in the last second of the last round of games in the playoffs.
AEK has also advanced to the Greek Cup?s Final Four, set to take place a week later.
PAOK had won the previous two league titles.
