AEK signs Dimi for goal

Former Coventry City, Cardiff and Nottingham Forest keeper Dimi Konstantopoulos has left Kerkyra to join AEK for the next two seasons.

The goalkeeper, who became an international for the first time last month, will cover the departure of Argentinean Sebastian Saja, who left AEK earlier this month.

Dimi expressed his satisfaction at signing a contract on Wednesday with one of Greece’s major clubs, saying: «It is very flattering to be the first transfer target of a team as big as AEK. It is also important that all three goalkeepers will be Greek.”

“What I want to promise fans is that I will do my best to help the club reach its targets, that for AEK can only be winning the title regardless of the conditions,» he added.

AEK had its first training session for the new season at its training center in Spata. The club also announced its acquisition of Icelandic center-back Elfar Helgason for the next three years.
