Super League limps to second round

Panathinaikos became the only team to score two wins in as many games as the soccer Super League limped to its second round of games on September 10-11 with just five matches taking place.

The Greens saw off visiting PAS Yiannina 3-1 on Sunday in front of 15,000 fans with goals from Josu Sarriegi, Toche and Sebastian Leto. Ibrahima Bakayoko pulled one back for PAS.

Ergotelis and Atromitos defeated their Thessaloniki opponents to climb to four points in two games. Ergotelis came from 1-0 down to beat 10-man PAOK 2-1 at home on Saturday, with goals coming from Sergio Leal and Mario Budimir, after Sotiris Balafas had given PAOK the lead.

On Sunday Atromitos had Costas Mitroglou to thank for his goal at Aris, who also ended the game with 10 men.

In other matches Panionios beat Panetolikos away 1-0 via a Njazi Kuqi strike, while Asteras Tripolis and Kerkyra shared a goalless draw.

Olympiakos and AEK are yet to kick a ball in anger as far as domestic competitions are concerned as the former was to play relegated Olympiakos Volou and AEK?s game at Xanthi was postponed at the police?s request, as many Xanthi-based police officers were sent to Thessaloniki for the Prime Minister?s visit.

Olympiakos Volou and Kavala, relegated for their involvement in match fixing, have secured an injunction stopping the Super League from replacing them with other teams.
