AEK presents new coach Kostenoglou
AEK presented its new manager, Nikos Kostenoglou, on October 7, with the successor to Manolo Jimenez stressing that the players need to have their feet firmly on the ground and the fans behind them.
The Athens club announced the deal with the former AEK defender, which sees him staying until June 2013, on October 6.
Kostenoglou, who also coached AEK in 2008, told a press conference at AEK’s training center that «we must know what the real situation is. We have not suddenly become a super team. It is important to have a good structure,» he said.
“I am back after three-and-a-half years as I have such a strong bond with the club. I have served in all of the club’s posts. I also had another proposal over this period, which I do not want to discuss. AEK is the priority for me,» stated Kostenoglou.
The new coach has his work cut out for him as AEK’s next game is against champion Olympiakos at home.
