Leto leads PAO to win over AEK

Panathinaikos defeated crosstown rival AEK 3-2 on November 6 to go two points clear at the top of the Super League, led by Sebastian Leto, who scored twice.

Playing in front of some 50,000 Panathinaikos fans, the Greens were dominant for most of the game and secured a 3-0 lead after Leto’s goals in the 16th and 30th minute and a strike by Costas Katsouranis in the 53rd.

Steve Beleck and Leonardo reduced the arrears for AEK by scoring in the 61st and 89th, while the visitors also struck the woodwork twice.

The match was followed by serious clashes between fans and the police outside the Olympic Stadium in Athens.

Second-placed Olympiakos defeated Aris at Thessaloniki, also by 3-2, on November 5.

Rafik Djebbour, Francois Modesto and Jean Makoun were on target for the Reds, but goals from Carlos Toja and Ricardo Faty were not enough for Aris.

In other games, PAOK lost 1-0 at Asteras Tripolis, OFI rose to fifth, downing Panionios 3-1 away, and Xanthi defeated Kerkyra 1-0.
