PAOK crashes out of Europa League

A disastrous performance by PAOK saw the Thessaloniki club lose 3-0 to Italy’s Udinese and crash out of the Europa League on Thursday.

The Greeks had grabbed a scoreless draw in the first leg of the round of 32 at Friuli but conceded two early goals to Danilo and Floro Flores while being unable to translate their own chances into goals in the first half.

Bruno Cirillo missed PAOK’s best chance in the 16th minute when his effort found the goal frame.

Udinese shook off the absence of superstar Antonio Di Natale and produced a fine display that fully deserved the 2-0 advantage at halftime.

As if that hadn’t been enough, Miroslaw Sznaucner was deemed to have fouled Floro Flores in the area four minutes into the second half and Maurizio Domizzi made the score 3-0 for the visitors.

This was the first loss for PAOK in Europe after 12 games, with its fans stealing the show with their wonderful behavior throughout the game at the Toumba Stadium.
