Olympiakos to clash with Atromitos in final

Olympiakos and Atromitos will contest this season’s Greek Cup final as they emerged victorious from the semifinal ties decided on Wednesday.

Olympiakos snatched a scoreless draw at OFI in a game that the Iraklio team felt it could have won given the chances it had to score and match the 1-0 loss from the first leg in Piraeus.

The Reds put in the minimum effort needed to see them through to the final for the first time since 2009. In the other semifinal, Asteras Tripolis and Atromitos drew 2-2 in the Peloponnesian city, with the Peristeri club advancing to the final on the away goals rule, given the 0-0 draw in the first leg.

Asteras was reduced to 10 men from the sixth minute as Sebastian Bartolini saw a straight red card and Atromitos took the lead in the 15th through Andreas Tatos.

The Tripoli side went level six minutes later through Rogerio Martins and took the lead two minutes into the second half courtesy of Ximo Navarro. It fell to Atromitos?s top scorer Costas Mitroglou to turn things around by scoring the crucial goal in the 71st minute.

This is the second consecutive Cup final for Atromitos, which last season lost to AEK.
