Three teams make it three out of three

Olympiakos, Kolossos and Panionios made it three wins out of three games in the basketball league, while the draw for the cup semifinals has paved the way for yet another Panathinaikos vs Olympiakos cup final.

Olympiakos recovered from its 18-point home loss to Zalgiris Kaunas on Thursday for the Euroleague to thrash host Ikaros Kallitheas at Glyfada on Sunday with 44 points (97-53). The Reds are also trying to find a replacement for departed forward Joey Dorsey.

Kolossos defeated visiting Panelefsiniakos 78-71, while Panionios had a hard time beating Kavala 87-84 away in a very entertaining game.

Panathinaikos had no problems on Monday dismantling AGO Rethymnou 92-50 at home, with amazing statistics: 67 percent in two-pointers, 50 percent in three-pointers and 87 percent in free throws.

Aris scored its first win of the season edging out Ilisiakos 64-63 at home, but local rival PAOK succumbed to an improved KAO Dramas away 89-78. Peristeri came from behind to defeat promoted Apollon Patras 76-74.

The cup draw has pitted holder Panathinaikos with KAO Dramas and Olympiakos with Kavala in the semifinals. The knock-out matches will take place in Athens and Kavala respectively. If favorites Panathinaikos and Olympiakos qualify, they will face each other in the competition’s final for the sixth time in succession.
