Vassiliki Angelopoulou…

Vassiliki Angelopoulou won a gold medal yesterday at the European Junior Swimming Championships at Glasgow, in the 200 meter butterfly. Her time, 2 minutes 10.64 seconds is a new Greek women’s record and less than five seconds off the world record. The previous Greek record of 2 minutes 12.57 seconds was achieved by Elli Roussaki on May 25, 1987, five days before Angelopoulou was born. Angelopoulou came second in the 400-meter individual medley, but was disqualified for a wrong turn.
