Pericles Iakovakis won his semifinal heat in the 400-meter hurdles at the World Athletics Championships yesterday in a new Greek record time of 48.17 seconds, despite slowing down noticeably toward the end of the race. He is expected to challenge for a medal in today’s final. Louis Tsatoumas qualified for tomorrow’s long jump final.
