Pole vault national records in both men and women

Pole vault is the event to watch for Greek track and field fans this year, with both Costas Filippidis and Nicole Kyriakopoulou impressively registering new national records over the weekend in Paris.

Filippidis improved his recent record of 5.85 meters by as many as six points at the IAAF Diamond League event in the French capital to clear 5.91m. and become only the fourth athlete in the world this year to make this height. he also finished first, five points above the competition.

Kyriakopoulou topped 4.83m. to break her own Greek record as well as the Diamond League record and record the world’s leading performance,just one month ahead of the Worlds in Beijing.

Hurdler Costas Douvalidis was impressive, too, as he equalled his national record at 110m. clocking 13.34 seconds. High jumper Antonis Mastoras cleared 2.29 m. and qualified for next years Olympic Games in Rio.
