Soccer great fights for life

Old-time soccer great Yiannis Kyrastas, who played with both the biggest clubs, Olympiakos and Panathinaikos, during his noteworthy career, and, more recently, also coached the latter, was reported to be in critical condition late last night, suffering from an acute case of septicemia, a form of blood poisoning. The 53-year-old former player and coach has been hospitalized at an Athens hospital since last Friday. Doctors, family members and officials of his former clubs yesterday made public requests for urgently needed blood donations.
