PAOK coach Dusan Bajevic…
PAOK coach Dusan Bajevic will not coach in Greece next season, if the story brought out yesterday by Belgrade radio station B-92 is correct. According to the Serb station, Bajevic has already agreed to coach Yugoslavia’s national team, whose colors he himself wore with much success in the 1970s. The 53-year-old Bajevic first came to Greece as a veteran player, helping AEK to two titles (1978 and 1979), before becoming the most successful first division coach ever, winning seven championships, four with AEK (1989 and 1992-4) and three with Olympiakos (1997-99). The domestic conflict stems from similar causes, although it has its own specificities. Vassilakopoulos has never quite felt comfortable with basketball’s evolution into a professional sport and he has a low opinion of several club owners, some of whom have brought their clubs to the brink of insolvency.
