Vying for 3rd spot in UEFA
The battle for the two top spots may already be over in Group F of the Champions League, but Rosenborg and Olympiakos will clash tonight in Norway, vying for third place and a consolatory berth in the inferior UEFA Cup’s third round. Lyon, on 12 points, and Real Madrid, three points behind, have already secured their places in the next round of knockout play. Rosenborg, on three points, and Olympiakos, without a point after four games, can only hope for third spot. A win or draw for Rosenborg tonight would assure the club third place. An away win for Olympiakos would tie the teams on three points each, meaning the results of their final games, on December 6, will determine the UEFA Cup berth. Olympiakos hosts Real Madrid and Rosenborg travels to Lyon.
