Well over a year after Greece’s extraordinary triumph at Euro 2004, coach Otto Rehhagel is continuing to make impact as the man who led the national soccer team to one of the most astonishing success stories in international sports. In a recent poll conducted by Uruguayan newspaper El Pais, Rehhagel was voted Europe’s third-best coach for the 2004-2005 season. Two non-Brits working in the English Premier League, Chelsea’s Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho and Arsenal’s French coach Arsene Wenger, were ranked first and second respectively. Rehhagel recently renewed his contract for two more years despite Greece’s failure to qualify for the World Cup.
