Two share wins for league’s best
AEK striker Nikos Lyberopoulos and Olympiakos midfielder Ieroklis Stoltidis were voted as the local league’s best Greek players in the 2005-06 season by fellow footballers at an awards ceremony organized by the Greek Association of Professional Soccer Players (PSAP) and pay-TV station Supersport late Monday night. Station viewers singled out Lyberopoulos as the league’s best Greek player. Olympiakos’s Brazilian star Rivaldo was voted the league’s best foreign player. For the second year, AEK player Panayiotis Lagos, who was with Iraklis last season, won as best young player. Savvas Koffidis, who recently resigned from Iraklis’s coaching post, was voted best coach for his efforts last season leading the Thessaloniki team to the UEFA Cup.
