Sailing champion retires, while partner continues

Emilia Tsoulfa, who won a gold at the Athens Olympics and three World Championships between 2001 and 2003, all with Sophia Bekatorou in sailing’s 470 class, has retired to focus on family, it was announced yesterday. Tsoulfa, now 33, is the mother of one child. Bekatorou, four years her junior, will carry on in the Yngling class with the Beijing Games as her main objective.
