Greece skipper close to 3-year AEK deal
Greece captain Angelos Basinas, currently playing club-level soccer with Real Mallorca, is close to reaching a three-year deal with AEK, begining next season. Reports said that a -100,000 discrepancy in negotiations over the player’s annual wages remained unsettled, but manageable. The 32-year-old midfielder signed up with the Spanish soccer team after leaving Panathinaikos in 2006. Officials at AEK, currently second in the Super League, two points behind Olympiakos, hope Basinas will fill the gap left behind by Akis Zikos, who retires at the end of this season.
