Panionios was unlucky in the LEN Trophy quarterfinals draw yesterday, as it will play one of Italy’s most long-established water polo teams, Posillipo. The Greek side will at least have the advantage of playing the second leg at home. The first match is scheduled for January 14 in Naples with the return match on February 7 in Athens. Panionios is the only Greek team to make the quarterfinals of Europe’s second-tier club competition, thanks to a double win over Spain’s San Andreu. Vouliagmeni and Chios bowed out of the competition to Honved and Vojvodina, respectively. Olympiakos earned its fourth point in two Champions League games, drawing 9-9 at Sibenik last weekend.
