Fresh blow for PAO stadium
Panathinaikos’s hopes of building a new stadium were dealt a fresh blow last night, as the Council of State has reportedly rejected an appeal for the continuation of works at the shopping center next to the stadium that would secure the financial viability of the entire project. Although it has not been officially announced, reports suggest that the country’s highest administrative court has voted 2-1 against lifting the injunctions that have stopped work on the building site, after the appeal lodged by 131 Athenians who cite environmental reasons. A formal announcement is expected in the coming days. The news is likely to spark a strong reaction from the parties affected by the judgment.
