AEK back in the title race

AEK leveled the national basketball league’s best-of-five final series against Olympiakos 2-2 yesterday with a thrilling score of 61-60 at the Piraeus team’s home ground. Back from trouble after losing the opening two games, AEK now faces Olympiakos in Wednesday’s deciding match with a home-ground advantage. The visitor’s domestic talent led the way with guard Nikos Hadzis, and forwards Dimos Dikoudis and Michalis Kakiouzis among the team’s leading players. Playing before some 9,000 fervent Olympiakos fans, the visitors managed to rebound from a shaky beginning. Olympiakos shot ahead early, leading 20-10 after just six minutes of play, but AEK regained its composure to claw back with an 11-0 run and a 30-27 lead by the 27th minute. A see-saw encounter developed from there on.
