Long jump athlete Niki Xanthou…

Long jump athlete Niki Xanthou, 1997’s world champion, withdrew from competition early at yesterday’s Women’s Gala meeting in Athens but ended second with a 6.67-meter jump. Xanthou felt slight muscle strain and will undergo medical tests today. Russia’s Tatyana Kotova, the world’s No. 1, won the event with a 7.03-meter performance.
