Key match for volleyball title

Olympiakos has its first chance to seal the men’s national volleyball title tonight when it visits Panathinaikos for the all-important Game 3 of the final series. The Reds lead the best-of-five series 2-0 after last Thursday adding a 3-0 home win to their crucial 3-0 away win last Monday. Olympiakos won 25-21, 25-19, 25-14 and showed it is the big favorite to clinch the Greek title. Panathinaikos must win tonight to stay alive in the tie but will have to do it without its injured French star Renaud Herpe. In the battle for fifth spot, Aris managed to defeat Finikas on Syros last night to go level in the best-of-three series that will guarantee a place in next season’s Challenge Cup. Aris won 3-2 (19-25, 25-23, 25-23, 23-25, 15-12) yesterday and will host Finikas on Wednesday for the deciding game.
