Greece participates in pan-European strike
Greek umbrella unions GSEE and ADEDY are participating on Wednesday in a pan-European strike, in which 40 unions in 23 European countries are protesting austerity policies.
The Greek private and public sector unions have called a three-hour stoppage starting at noon, while a rally was being organized on Klafthmonos Square at 1 p.m.
Public transport services were scheduled to run on schedule on Wednesday, with the exception of the Syntagma Square metro station which was expected to close its doors at noon.
Journalists are also participating in the stoppage from noon to 3 p.m.
