A letter containing gunpowder exploded on Sunday night at the home of a judge that deals with terrorism cases, police said.
The judge returned on Sunday to his home in the Athens suburb of Holargos from vacation and was given his mail by a neighbor. The judicial official thought the letter, purportedly sent by the Doctors of the World, to be suspicious.
He threw the envelope in the air and it caught fire when it landed. Nobody was injured.
Police said that similar letter bombs have been sent in the past by the urban guerrilla group FAI-Cells of Fire.
