Turkish helicopter and 12 jets violate Greek air space

A Turkish helicopter and 12 fighter jets, six of which were armed, violated Greek air space on Friday, the National Defense General Staff (GEETHA) said in a statement.

The AS532 Cougar helicopter flew twice over the eastern Aegean island of Samos, GEETHA said. The 12 Turkish fighter jets were flying in 10- and two-craft formations, and entered Greek air space without permission three times.

The Hellenic Air Force sent up its own jets to chase them off.
