PASOK and 58 to meet to pick strategy for May polls
PASOK officials are due to meet on Thursday with representatives of the center-left movement known as the “58” to decide on their strategy for May’s European Parliament elections, when they will run on a joint ticket.
The two key issues that need to be resolved when the informal committee meets are how the campaign will be coordinated so there is a common line between representatives of the two sides and which candidate will make the candidate list.
The latter could prove decisive for the 58 as the joint effort with PASOK is unlikely to lead to more than a couple of MEPs being elected. If PASOK insists on nominating well-known figures it could obscure the movement’s attempts to make its presence known.
