Main bourse index rises to highs unseen in more than 32 months

The local stock market ended the month on a high note on Friday, with the benchmark having added 11.34 percent during February. This rise was helped considerably by the gains chalked up this week.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed on Friday at 1,310.41 points, its highest in 32 months, expanding 1.27 percent from Thursday’s 1,293.97 points. Week-on-week it added 4.84 percent.

The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 climbed 1.04 percent to 423.11 points.

Ellaktor was the blue chip with the highest gains (4.86 percent), ahead of Piraeus Bank (up 4.17 percent), while Jumbo contracted by 1.93 percent.

In total, 85 stocks went up, 56 headed south and 28 stayed put.

Turnover amounted to 121.8 million euros, against Thursday’s 105.1 million.
